Endless war
Racism sexism
When it rains it pours
Religious hate
Racial castes
Is this our state?
Will we last?
I wish I could ponder
And write and think free
To breathe in deep
To see what you see
To feel it all
From every perspective
But still be myself
With my own direction
For a free will planet
Wage slaves we gasp
For love and sustenance
And then life’s past
Afraid to dream
The future? Theirs.
The past is buried
But here we care
People helping people
Is that what life’s about
Sitting under trees sharing
Breathing deeply from our mouths?
Inducted indoctrination
Hypnosis confusion lies
Bewildered and bewitched
Surveilled and scrambled minds
Oh for a day of reason love and logic
Understanding and compassion
Are we not all human beings?
When is the time for action?
End the violence and the hatred
Servitude ignorance and scorn
While I wait I’ll write a poem
And dream deeply every morn.
