Divest from Big Oil

Divest from big oil

Big foreign corporations

Killing trees defiling water

For profit and compensation

Toxic sewers toxic air

Cancer alleys violent coughs

Save the children from asthma

Before their future’s lost

Divest from big oil

Shut urban oil wells down

Close the refineries

And then clean up the ground

We can do better

As the heat wave swelters and cooks

As faces sweat and bodies fidget

In triple digits. Just look!

How will we still live here?

In another decade or two?

We need another industry

Besides freeways and black goo

So divest from big oil

A green-blue alliance we’ll make

Reinvest in our communities

For the whole planet’s sake

In LA it seems impossible

We are married to our cars

From pay checks right to the gas pump

Free will only takes you so far

But can we all imagine with our money

A different way than foreign banks

Multinational corporations

Stock indices top ranked

Divest from foreign oil

That is martyred with our blood

Let’s do something better

Before the market really takes a loss
